Objective: Lifestyle is one of the determining factors in improving physical and mental health, which can have significant effects on cognitive functions and sleep quality of individuals. A healthy lifestyle includes habits such as proper nutrition, regular physical activity, stress management, and adequate sleep, all of which play an important role in improving sleep quality, concentration, and cognitive abilities. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between lifestyle components and sleep quality, selective attention, and reaction time of students.
MethodsIn this study, regression and correlation statistical methods were used. The research tools included the Walker Lifestyle Improvement Questionnaire, the Petersburg Sleep Quality Questionnaire, the Cantab device to measure reaction time, and the Stroop test to assess selective attention.
Results: The results of statistical analyses showed that some lifestyle components, especially stress management, exercise, and nutrition, have a significant relationship with sleep quality. Also, the regression model for predicting reaction time and Stroop latency through lifestyle components was not significant. Only the self-actualization component had a positive and significant relationship with reaction time..
Conclusion: These findings indicate that some lifestyle components such as self-actualization can affect some cognitive aspects, especially reaction time in cognitive tests. This study generally concluded that lifestyle components can be effective in improving sleep quality and some cognitive functions, but more complex models or additional variables are needed to predict other indicators.
