Abstract

Objective: The aim of the present study was to investigate the effectiveness of the LTAD model-based exercise intervention on the level of motor competence in children aged 6-9 years: an experimental study.
Method: The present study is a quasi-experimental study with a pre-test-post-test design. The statistical population of the present study included children in Kohdasht, Lorestan, aged 6-9 years. For this purpose, 60 people were assigned to three groups: LTAD intervention 6-7 years, LTAD intervention 8-9 years, and control through voluntary and self-determined sampling after surveys and assessments related to the study's entry criteria. The instrument used in this study was the Gross Motor Development Test 3. The TGMD-3 pre-test was taken from the subjects. Then, the experimental groups practiced for 10 weeks, three times a week and 45 minutes per session. After the intervention, the TGMD-3 post-test was taken from the subjects again. Data were analyzed using the analysis of covariance statistical method.
Result: The results of this study showed that there was a significant difference between the effects of the research groups on motor competence; this difference was in favor of the LTAD intervention group aged 8-9 years (sig=0.001).
Conclusion: Therefore, considering the greater effectiveness of the LTAD intervention aged 8-9 years, it is suggested that this LTAD-based training intervention approach be used to improve motor competence in children.
